On June 14 2023, BECIS and Tagum Agricultural Development Company (TADECO) inaugurated a 1.55MWp grid-tied onsite solar solution at Barangay Mintal, Carmen, Davao del Norte, Philippines.

TADECO is a leading producer and exporter of high quality fresh bananas and tropical fruits for the global market. They are part of the ANFLOCOR Group, a Philippine conglomerate focused on driving economic growth in the Mindanao region.

The 2,848 solar panels installed within the 6000 hectare banana plantation of TADECO will harness the power of the Sun, displacing 22% of TADECO’s conventional daytime grid supply. The project is expected to cancel 20,580 tons equivalent of carbon dioxide emissions within the 15 year contract term.

During this inauguration ceremony, key representatives from BECIS and TADECO shared the following messages. Below are the excerpts:

Mr. Rahul Dasari, Managing Director, BECIS Philippines & India: “Thanks to the vision of TADECO leaders, TADECO is moving towards becoming the first carbon neutral banana plantation in the Philippines, setting a fine example to its industry peers. With this project, Tadeco is saving at almost 50% of from its current grid rate; displacing 22% of its average daytime grid dependence (and 12% of average daily consumption); cancelling 20,580 tons equivalent of CO2 similar to planting 340,000 tree seedlings. Over the past year, BECIS has grown to expand its competencies in providing a wider range of energy solutions – from solar to biomass thermal solutions, to cooling and heating solutions. We are looking forward to invest more into the Anflocor group.”

Mr.Vincent Floirendo, TADECO President & CEO: “This renewable energy source is indeed a promising start to reduce carbon emissions and environmental impact of our operations. It took years before this particular project became a reality but thanks to the TADECO team involved in this project that this is now finally here. It is practical as well advantageous in our part being a big company that relies much on electricity but more than its efficacy, its positive impact on the environment is indeed enticing.

I want to acknowledge and thank our partner, BECIS. We came into a win-win agreement that I think best works for both of our organizations and I look forward to hearing positive news in the the coming days for this specific project. Congratulations to all of us and Thank you.”
