The Advantage of Biomass Energy

Renewable

Waste from agriculture or wood processing gets used to generate thermal energy. This renewable thermal energy can replace fossil fuel-based steam, cooling, or electricity. When biomass combusted, it only releases as much CO2 as it absorbed when it was growing. On the other hand, when fossil fuels get burned, CO2 trapped under the earth for millions of years gets released into the atmosphere. Therefore, the combustion of biomass fuel has low emissions and is considered carbon neutral.

Low Carbon Emissions

Typical emissions from biomass energy in Asia is 0,02 tCO2e per ton of steam, with the emissions mainly generated by the transportation of biomass. Compared to natural gas, which typically emits 0,21 tCO2e, or coal or diesel, bioenergy can reduce emissions by more than 90%.
