The Advantage of Biomass Energy

Renewable

Waste from agriculture or wood processing can be used to generate thermal energy. This renewable thermal energy can replace fossil fuel-based steam, electricity, and cooling. When biomass is combusted, it only releases as much CO2 as it absorbs when it is at the growth stage. On the other hand, each time when fossil fuels are burned, CO2 that has been trapped under the earth for millions of years, is released into the atmosphere. Therefore, the combustion of biomass fuel has low emissions and is considered carbon neutral.

Low Carbon Emissions

Typical emissions from biomass energy in Asia is 0,02 tCO2e per ton of steam, with the emissions mainly generated by the transportation of biomass. In comparison to natural gas which typically emits 0,21 tCO2e, or coal or diesel, bioenergy can reduce emissions by more than 90%.
